Christmas in Goa

Goa Christmas Celebration - Christmas festival that marks the birth of Lord Jesus on the mist clad day of 25th December every year. During Christmas Goa becomes all the more vibrant and lively. The market places are all embroidered with tinsel and buntings and people camouflaged as Santa stalk customers, particularly children with gifts in the big cities. Decorated and glittering Christmas trees are all over the place in Goa. Christmas in Goa is full of fun and frolic.

For the pious, the celebrations begin on Christmas Eve. Carols are sung and many churches organize the midnight Mass. The service on Christmas Day is attended by Christians dressed in new clothes. After the morning congregation is over, people gather in their homes for the family get-togethers.

By Christmas Eve, Goa overflows with far flung members of families returning home and visitors keen to experience the thrills of the season from Christmas carols and long-drawn midnight masses.

It is indeed an inspiring sight and one should not miss the frolic of wandering on Goa's streets.

Houses are decorated with the glowing star and little Christmas trees decorated with sparkling stars, cotton or snow flakes, lights, candy and cakes.

These small clay lamps are placed on the edges of flat roofs and on the tops of walls. Gifts are exchanged with friends and family, and diet charts are replaced with mouth-watering goodies that sum up the ceremony.

Christmas is the most awaited festival for Christians. Christmas marks the birth of lord Jesus. Celebrated on 25th december, Christmas is observed globally, crossing the bounds of religion. The festival of joy and peace starts at Christmas eve, ie, 24th december with partying and celebrations, and continues till 25th December night. Prayers are offered during day time. Midnight masses, decorated churches, pealing of church bells and fireworks coupled with messages of love, joy and peace are ushered in Christmas celebrations all across the world. Houses are decorated with the glowing star and little Christmas trees. The small trees are decorated with tinsel stars, cotton or snow flakes, lights, candy and cakes. Carols singing and sending cards are a must.

Goa Christmas Celebration is also associated with holy prayers, grand music, majestic food and lovely vibrant environment. It is the time for ultimate celebration.
